Basic Terms for Men's Watch

Automatic Movements
A watch with automatic rewind. Arm movements cause rotating part that rewinds the mainspring of the watch to rotate. An automatic movement watch is also called a self-winding watch.

Chronograph
A wristwatch or pocket watch with an additional stopwatch mechanism.

Chronometer
An extremely precise watch that is finely attuned to different locations and temperature and is also used to describe a marine chronometer used for celestial navigation and determination of longitude. An official watch certificate is normally issued to such watch.

Diver's Watch
Waterproof and can withstand water pressure for diving purposes.

Perpetual Calendar
Calendar that takes into account the length of month and leap years.
