Morning Dress is a formal dress code for daytime. Morning dress is now rarely worn, used generally only for weddings, some official government or Royal functions, races such as Ascot, and as uniform at some of Britain's most traditional schools such as Eton.
The standard components of a morning dress consist of:
1) Coat - The morning coat is only worn during the day. Can be black or gray in color.
2) Vest - Single or double breasted with contrasting color with the coat.
3) Trouser - Striped pants are the norm but some people determined to be different, used Prince of Wales check, houndstooth or even Scottish tartans.
4) Neckcloth - Ties or any form of Cravat but never with bow tie.
5) Hat - The appropriate color would be gray but in case of funeral, black must be worn.
6) Gloves - Not compulsary
7) Shoes - Black Oxfords is the first choice but monkstraps and loafers are also acceptable.
